Obituary for Alfred "Bud" Terry, Jr.

Our family is sad to announce that Alfred A. Terry, Jr. better lovingly know at “Buddy” by those who knew him, passed away on Thursday, November 30, 2022 after suffering from a long term illness at home and Atrium Health Northeast in Concord, NC.

He was born in Muhlenberg Hospital in Plainfield, NJ on July 7, 1940. Buddy spent his youth in the town of Middlesex, NJ and was a graduate of Bound Brook High School. He later went on to earn a degree in Engineering from Rutgers University. Alfred eventually married his beloved wife, Patricia A. Terry and moved to South Plainfield, NJ until 2005, when he moved his family to Concord, NC.

Buddy worked for companies such as Merk, Morse-Diesel Amex and Shumaker as an engineer/estimator. He was also the go to person to do the taxes for his family members.

Alfred will be known as a fun loving, kind person who although did not have children of his own, had the ability to adopt all family members into his life. Bud was known for his quirky sense of humor, quick wit, ability to adapt to any situation and his exceptional talent to be a conversationalist on almost any topic. Bud was an outgoing individual who loved casino life, lottery tickets/scratch-offs, horse racing, travel, and most of all, his dogs, who he spoiled considerably. He will be missed by his remaining family who always enjoyed his visits and phone calls at any given time. He is most known for these quotes: “Moss doesn’t grow on a rolling stone” and “I never met a stranger”.

Alfred is preceded in death by his parents, Alfred Terry, Sr., and Jean Terry; his beloved wife, Patricia A. Terry; and beloved cousin, Marilyn (Mugsy) G. Terry.

He is survived by his cousins, William Lane of Milford, PA, Jimmy Lane of Concord, and Doug Terry of Akron, Ohio; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Michael and Michele Buczek of Harrisburg, NC; brother-in-law, Robert Buczek of Concord; nieces, Kristin Carr-Romancheck and spouse, David Romancheck of Middlesex, NJ, Kelly Maddison of Easton, PA, Holly Buczek-Schneck and spouse Pete Schneck of Bethlehem, PA, Michael Buczek of Ohio, Jessica Buczek-Glosson of Concord, and Michael “Mo” Buczek of Charlotte, NC; and fur baby, Jaden of Concord.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue #100, Charlotte, NC 28207 or to the Humane Society of Concord and Greater Cabarrus County, 210 Wilshire Court SW, Concord, NC 28025.
