Obituary for Dot Whitaker
Mrs. Dorothy “Dot” Mae Slate Whitaker, age 70 passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021 at Tucker Hospice House.
A service to celebrate Dot’s life will be held at 10 am Friday, April 2, 2021 at Kannapolis Church of Christ with Pastor Kirk Sams officiating. The family will greet friends following the service at the church. Please wear a mask or face cover if you are attending the service.
Dot was born March 24, 1951 in Broome county, NY, a daughter of the late Robert Louis Slate and Jennie Anderson Slate. She retired from Cabarrus County Schools and was a member of Kannapolis Church of Christ. Dot enjoyed fishing at the beach with her husband, and spending time with her family, however, her world was the grandchildren. She was definitely the doting grandmother, who wanted them all to know how much they were loved and adored. Dot will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Richard C. Whitaker; sons, Steven Whitaker and wife, Rachel of Concord, and Robert “Bob” Whitaker and wife, Tannis of Statesville; grandchildren, Whitney, Preston, Payton, Cheyenne, Connor, Wyatt, and Sarrah; sister, Pat Green and husband, Dave and their family in Endwell, NY; and other relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kannapolis Church of Christ, 2315 Concord Lake Road, Kannapolis, NC 28083 or to a charity of your choice.
