Obituary for Dianne Blackwelder Parker

Mrs. Edith “Dianne” Blackwelder Parker, 73, of Concord, passed away on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 at her home, surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm, on Sunday December 4, 2022 at Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church officiated by Rev. David Wilson and Rev. Greg Sloop, with burial to follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 pm on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church and again from 1-2 prior to the service on Sunday. In memory of Dianne, we ask you to wear purple, her favorite color, to the service.

Dianne was born on June 3, 1949 in Concord to the late Margaret Lottie Louise Hathcock Blackwelder and James Pinkney Blackwelder. She is also preceded in death by her siblings, James “Bugsy” Blackwelder, Timothy Joe “Timmy” Blackwelder, twins, James Clay Blackwelder and Pinkney Ray Blackwelder.

Dianne was a 1967 graduate of Northwest Cabarrus High School in Concord. Over the years she had worked as an Office Clerk at Cannon Mills, Office Manager at Dixie Bearings, and as Assistant Town Clerk at the Town of Mt. Pleasant. She was a member of Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church where she served in many different capacities. Family was very special to her, and she loved making memories with them. Dianne was a giver, had a servant’s heart and always thinking of others before herself. Her true passion was to lead people to the Lord and show true kindness to everyone that she came in contact with. She always had a smile on her face even through her 22-year fight with two cancers. Her favorite hobby was crafting. She loved to make things to give as gifts or sale so she could donate to others. She loved helping with her daughter’s foster children and the neighborhood widows / widowers. She liked to help organize events, especially at church. She also was a Hot Rod lover and had her own ’40 Ford Coupe. She will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Stephen “Steve” Martin Parker; daughter, Tamara Page and husband, Robert; sisters, Frances “Kaleen” Shaver, Rachel “Susie” Moore and husband, Jake; brother, Terry Blackwelder and wife, Judy; grandchildren, James Huston Page, Anna Elizabeth Page, Magon Sechrist and husband, Levi, Rachel Steinhiser; great-grandson, Riley Thrasher.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Wil-Mar Park Baptist Church, 584 Wil-Mar Street NW, Concord, NC 28025 in her name.
