Obituary for Sonny Verble
Mr. Edward Burns “Sonny” Verble, 89, of Concord, passed away on Thursday, January 28, 2021 at his home, surrounded by his family.
A funeral service will be held at 2:30 pm, on Monday, February 1, 2021 at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Randy Wall, with burial to follow at Roberta United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:15 pm prior to the service at the funeral home. Sonny will lie in state on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 12:00-5:00 pm.
Sonny was born on June 10, 1931 in Concord to the late Garner E. and Olene Miller Verble. He is also preceded in death by his wife, Katie Peigler Verble; son, Nick Verble.
Sonny was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend to many. He had a heart of gold. His greatest love was his granddaughters Elizabeth and Ashley. He loved to have his granddogs visit him, Bella, Gabby and Brody. Sonny had a passion for his appearance, he would dress to impress everyday. He loved shopping at Stein Mart. His hobbies included fishing, traveling and riding around town visiting friends and family. Sonny was a lifetime career retail salesman at Lebo's and helped the company open many new stores.
He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie V. Harris and husband, Jim; son, Shawn Verble and fiancé, Teresa Baggs; sister, Doris Blackley; grandchildren, Elizabeth Harris, Ashley Verble and fiancé, Tyler Locke.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Hospice Caregivers Sylvia, Rick and Camilla and to Happy Hearts Caregivers, Melissa and Megan.
