Obituary

Mr. Frankie “Pops” Eugene Starnes, age 69, of Harrisburg, passed away Saturday January 16, 2021 at Atrium Health Cabarrus, after several years of declining health.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 18 from 5 to 7 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 19 at 1 pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. J.T. Craig and Pastor Richard Burrage officiating. Burial will follow at Harrisburg Baptist Church Cemetery.

Frankie was born July 12, 1951 in Cabarrus County, a son of the late Charlie W. and Martha Lou Taylor Starnes. He was also preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Bryant Starnes, and a sister, Ethel Starnes.

Frankie worked many years in the trucking business and retired from J.B. Hunt Trucking as a diesel mechanic. One of his greatest pleasures was helping Wayne Furr on his farm baling and hauling hay and wheat straw. As long as his health permitted, he loved being outdoors and staying busy, whether doing things for himself, but mainly, for others. Frankie was a member of Christ Community Church of Concord, where he attended faithfully as long as his health permitted. He will surely be missed.

Survivors include his sons, Dusty Starnes and wife, Brianna of Concord and Rusty Starnes of Mt. Pleasant; daughter, Kathy Rusch of Concord; grandchildren, Katlyn and Tori Burnett, R J Starnes, MacKenzie and Corbin Starnes; sister, Peggy Lowery and husband, Bill of Concord; brothers, Lester (Peanut) Starnes and wife, June, and Zeb Starnes and wife, Shirley, all of Harrisburg; nieces, nephews, and other loving relatives and friends.

I’m so sorry for your loss. Praying the God of all comfort helps you at this difficult time. (2 Corinthians 1:3,4 & Psalms 83:18). Jesus told us to pray for God’s Kingdom because the Bible promises it will do away with death. (Revelation 21:4,5 & Daniel 2:44).
