Obituary for Wayne Reid
CONCORD-Fred “Wayne” Reid died Wednesday, April 14, 2021 on Atrium Health Cabarrus after a very brief battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be 11am Friday, April 16, at Wilkinson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Sonny Reavis officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 10 to 11am Friday.

Wayne was born in Concord on August 28, 1952 to the late Fred Herndon Reid and Frances Barnhardt Reid. He graduated from Concord High School in 1971. He worked for many years for Smith Turf and Irrigation in Charlotte designing irrigation systems for golf courses and universities.
Wayne was preceded in death by his wife Penny Cooke Reid.
Wayne and Penny were avid Disney enthusiast and travelled to Disney World annually for many years. Wayne was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing with close friends at Piney Point Golf Club. He loved the Beatles, Andy Griffith and Tarheel Basketball. He was proud to be a brother, uncle, cousin and friend.
Wayne is survived by his brother R. Benjamine Reid and his wife Jennie Lou, his uncle Ralph A. Barnhardt, his aunt Polly Barnhardt Rusk and nieces, nephews and cousins.
