Obituary

Mrs. Gwen Smith Auten, age 82 passed away peacefully on Monday, February 24, 2020 at Atrium Health Cabarrus.

The family will receive friends from 11 am to 12 pm on Thursday, February 27 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.

Gwen was born January 8, 1938 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Shelton R. Smith and Arleigh Lentz Smith. Gwen retired from Cabarrus County Schools, and she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

Survivors include her loving husband of 61 years, Ted W. Auten; son, Timothy Wayne Auten; sisters, Ann Kennedy and husband, Calvin of Concord and Carolyn Shinn of Palm Beach Gardens, FL; numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
