Obituary for Jean Carol Sherrill (Freeze)
Mrs. Jean Carol Freeze Sherrill, 78, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at Atrium Health Cabarrus, surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 28, 2022 at Wilkinson Funeral Home chapel, officiated by Pastor Joshua Oliver, with burial to follow at Carolina Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 11:30am-1:00 pm prior to the service.
Jean was born on February 14, 1944 in Concord to the late Sylvia Lee Frye Freeze and Eugene Freeze, Sr. She was an alumnus of UNC-Charlotte and a longtime member of Branchview First Church of God where she sang in the choir. Jean enjoyed shopping, reading, playing the piano, and continuing her education any way possible. She worked in the Clerk of Superior Court office for Cabarrus County as well as the Office of the Chief District Court Judge.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, John Caldwell Sherrill, Jr.; daughters, Tracy Sherrill and partner, Lori Kent of Hickory, NC; Debra Matthews and husband, Jeff of Booneville, NC; sister, Patricia Karriker and husband, Don of Concord; brother, Eugene “Jack” Freeze, Jr of Concord; grandchildren, Piper Montgomery and friend, Lisa Burdette, Mac Hanson and wife, Karlie, Casey Mason and husband, Brandon, Morgan Matthews; great-grandchildren, Lenora Hanson and Messer Hanson.
