Obituary for Jeffery Allen "BoBo" Smith

Jeffery "BoBo" Smith, 53, passed away on November 10, 2022.

His funeral will be held at 1pm Sunday, November 20, in the Charles Rimer Gymnasium at Concord High School. Jeff will lie in-state Tuesday through Saturday, 8:00 am-5:00 pm, at Wilkinson Funeral Home for anyone to view and sign the guest book.

Jeff was born in Concord on April 2nd, 1969, to his loving parents Kathy and the late Steve Smith. Jeff attended Concord High School where he proudly played football as a Concord Spider. After graduating High School, Jeff started his first job, working for Harkey Brothers Heat and Air. Only a short year later, Jeff married the love of his life Penny Furr in June of 1988. In what seemed like an even shorter year later, Jeff and Penny welcomed their first and only child, and second love of his life, his daughter Magan. In the same year, Jeff began his storied career with the Concord City Fire Department. Jeff served 30 selfless and fulfilling years, in several stations within the city and retired at the rank of Captain. In addition to his career as a firefighter, Jeff worked as a professional window cleaner and coached football at both Mount Pleasant Middle School and his alma mater Concord High School “GO SPIDERS!”. In the final chapter of Jeff’s life and love story, Jeff’s daughter Magan married Chris Edwards and blessed him with a grandson, Walker. For the next 5 years, Jeff devoted all of his love and attention to his grandson. Jeff spent his retirement years doing what he loved most, enjoying time with his friends and family in North Myrtle Beach. For those who knew him, you know that Jeff never met a stranger and if you ever met him you would definitely never forget him, as his larger than life personality matched his literal size.

He leaves behind his loving wife of 34 years, Penny "Ralph" Furr Smith; daughter, Magan S. Edwards and husband Christopher; grandson, Walker Reed Edwards; mother, Kathy Shoe Smith; sister, Marti S. Fredell and husband Paul; brother Steven Wayne Smith and wife, Paige; mother-in-law, Jane P. Furr; and goddaughter, Aryel Smith.
