Obituary for John Raymond Gallie

John Raymond Gallie, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed from this life on the afternoon of January 14, 2023 in Kannapolis, North Carolina at the age of 83. John was born on July 21, 1939 in Phila- delphia, Pennsylvania. As a teenager, he attended school in nearby Hatfield, where he met his wife, Faith. John and Faith were married on April 2, 1960 at Wayside Chapel in Whitemarsh Memorial Park (Ambler, PA) and traveled together through more than 62 years of life.

As a teenager, John’s first job was as a driver doing maintenance for the Borough of Lansdale. As a young adult, he purposed his enjoyment of driving as a service to the United States Army as a member of the cavalry, serving in Korea until 1964. John later retired from UPS in 1995 after more than 25 years of service as a delivery driver and many adventures on the road. In 1997, John and Faith migrated to Florida, but John drove them to and from North Carolina at least twice a year to spend summers and holidays with their children and grandchildren until they moved permanently to North Carolina in 2020. In his last year, John drove less than before, but still enjoyed road trips to North Carolina beaches with family. We know that he is driving all over Heaven!

John is survived by Faith, his loving wife of 62 years, son Darin and wife Melissa of Hartsville, SC, daughter Christa and partner Cliff of Charlotte, NC, grand- children Amaranth of Mesa, AZ and Elias of Scottsdale, AZ, and his dog of 16 years, Eve. He has joined his Heavenly Father, parents, aunts, uncles, and a lifetime’s worth of dogs and cats.

John’s family remembers him as a jokester with an infectious laugh who was also tenacious and tough as nails. Not one to back down from a challenge, he beat lymphoma at the age of 83. His family will always admire the unwavering faith that got him through unexpected health conditions at the end of his life. We miss him every day, but feel that his fierce spirit lives on through us.

Services and burial will be held privately at a later date.
