Obituary for Kathy McCorkle
Mrs. Kathryn Ann McCorkle, 67, of Concord, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2023 at her home.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 pm, on Friday February 3, 2023 at Blessed Hope Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Ray Helms, with burial to follow at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends from 11:00 am to 12:00 pm prior to the service.
Kathy was born on April 4, 1955 in Atlanta, GA to the late Fannie Mae Henson Pope and Leonard Wallace Pope. She is also preceded in death by her husband of 24 years, the love of her life Gary “Dean” McCorkle, Sr.; sister, Sharon Queen; grandson, Justin Tartt.
Kathy had worked for Holiday Dry Cleaners for more than 30 years. During her younger years she enjoyed crafting and spending time with her family.
Kathy was a loving mother to her surviving children daughter, Michele Tartt and husband, Neil of Midland; son, Jamie McCorkle and wife, Amanda of Charlotte; sisters, Vicky Shaw of McDonough, GA, June Bradley of Concord, Joyce Ferrel of Durham, brothers, Wayne Pope of Perry, GA, Billy Pope of Gaffney, SC, Mike Pope of Four Oaks; grandchildren, Matthew Tartt, Kayleigh Tartt(Quinton), Dyaln Tartt(Kara), Holden McCorkle(Asia), Deana McCorkle; great-grandchildren, Riley, Raegan, Cashton, Macie.
The pallbearers will be Neil Tartt, Matthew Tartt, Dylan Tartt, Jamie McCorkle, Holden McCorkle, Eddie Queen.
Kathy will be greatly missed by many, and my life will never be the same. Thank you, Momma, for everything you ever done for me. “She deserves an arm full of roses, but she is satisfied with a handful of weeds”.
