Obituary for Mary Ford

Mrs. Mary Belle Hinson Ford, age 98 of Concord, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family at Atrium Health Cabarrus on March 14, 2023.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 pm Saturday, March 18 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 pm in the chapel with Rev. Jeffrey Rushing officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.
Born March 31, 1924 in Cabarrus County, Mary was the daughter of the late Daniel R. Hinson and Carrie Hooks Hinson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Clifford S. Ford, sister, Pauline Hinson, brothers, Raymond, Homer, J.C. and B W Hinson, and grandson, Mark Ford.

Mary was a lifelong member of Westford Methodist Church. She was an active member until her illness prevented her from attending each week. At the time of her death, she was the oldest member of Westford Methodist Church. She attended Hartsell High School, and at the time of her death, was the oldest living person to have attended Hartsell High School.

Mary was employed by Cannon Mills at Plant #9 in the spinning and spool department for 45 years of service. After retiring from Cannon Mills, she worked at First Assembly Living Center for 15 years, and then at St. Andrews Living Center for approximately 5 years. Mary enjoyed gardening and yard work. She will be remembered by her family for her great home cooking. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Family members left to cherish her memory are her sons, Wayne Ford (Dianne), Perry Ford, (Jackie), and Lynn Ford (Peggy); brother, Dr. Fred Hinson of Cullowhee, NC; 7 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the entire staff at Pruitt Town Center in Harrisburg for all their compassionate and loving care for our mother.
