Obituary for Patricia Anne Collins (Benson)
Patricia Anne Benson Collins, 87, of Concord passed away Tuesday, April 13, 2021. She was born March 22, 1934 in Brockton, Massachusetts to the late John Moulton Benson and Julia Thomas Benson. She was a graduate of Abington High School in Abington, Massachusetts, and Massachusetts General Hospital, School of Nursing in 1955.
She was married to the late Dr. David Leonard Collins, Jr. in 1957 in Abington, Massachusetts. She is survived by her 5 children, Dr. David Collins of Austin, Texas, Dr. John Collins (Faith) of Salisbury, N.C., Deborah Thompson (Chuck) of Apex, N.C., Bill Collins (Kimberly) of Salisbury, N.C., and James Collins (Valerie) of Candler, N.C., her 9 grandchildren, Katie MacGilvray (Mike), Steven Thompson (Kristy), Julie Thompson, Audrey Collins (Scott Dingle), Nick Collins (Morgan), Matt Collins, Jordan Collins, Jay Collins, Drew Collins, and 2 step-daughters, Gavin Staton and Mason Staton, and 3 great-grandchildren Elisha Thompson, Amelia Dingle, and Emma MacGilvray, one sister Bonnie Benson Hanson (Alan), one sister-in-law Mary Frances Collins Myers (Thellis), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pat’s interests included her lifelong membership at First Baptist Church, Concord, her bridge club; volunteering for the American Red Cross Blood Drives; and participating in various doll clubs, and book clubs. Many great friendships were made through her interests and hobbies that lasted her lifetime.
A private graveside service with family will be held on Saturday, April 24, 2021.
