Obituary for Penny Denise Turner (Pope)
CONCORD- Penny Pope Turner, 62, passed away on January 8 2023.
A 2pm Friday, January 13, memorial service will be held at Broadus Church with Rev. Rodney Quesenberry officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
Penny was born in Cabarrus County on June 14, 1960. She was one of four children born to Benny A. and Alice Hinson Pope. Penny was a 1978 graduate of Central Cabarrus High School. That same year she married Joel. She has accumulated 29 ½ years as a North Carolina State employee. After many years as a teacher’s assistant in Cabarrus County she went to work at the Cabarrus County Courthouse in 2012. In addition to being a loving wife and mother Penny beamed with pride for her grandchildren.
Mrs. Turner is survived by her husband of over 44 years, Joel A. Turner; mother, Alice Hinson Pope; sons, Jared Paul Turner and wife Tasha and Avery Joel Turner and wife Tristin, all of Concord; sister, Neva Wooldridge; brothers, Tony Pope and Randy Pope; and grandchildren, Abigail, Tyler, Amelia. Maddox, and Ansen.
