Obituary for Richard Johnston McGuirt
Richard Johnston McGuirt, 62, of Concord, passed away on Thursday May 11, 2023.
Rick was born on December 6, 1960 to the late Betty Sue McGuirt & Robert Wilson McGuirt. He was preceded in death by his son Benjamin Johnston McGuirt and his mother Betty Sue McGuirt.
Rick is survived by his wife of thirty-seven years and one day, Penny Larrabee McGuirt, daughter, Jessica Murdock (Weston), grandsons, Owen and Walker, daughter-in-law, Rikki, grandsons Bradley and Jack, brothers, Rob (Dawn) and David (Patty), father, Robert (Judy), and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
Rick graduated from North Mecklenburg High School in 1979. He served his entire career in the scale trade. In 1998 he opened American Scale Company as co-owner. They built a very successful business priding themselves on great customer service and clients often became personal friends. Rick was a respected employer and skilled technician.
He was loved by so many for his kind heart and easygoing way. His greatest joy was his family. There was nothing he loved more than spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. He also loved to fish and made multiple trips to Brazil to fish the Amazon for Peacock Bass. Rick also collected antique toys. He even bought a country store and had it moved to their property to house his toy collection. His other passion was classic cars. The most recent restoration is a green 1960 Cadillac.

A service of remembrance will be held Tuesday, May 16,2023 at 2:00 PM, Wilkinson Funeral Home, 100 Branchview Drive NE, Concord, NC 28025. The family will receive friends from 12:30-1:45 pm prior to the service then immediately following the service the family will receive friends at 1070 Odell School Road, Concord, NC.
