Obituary for Roscoe Calvin Harvell
Mr. Roscoe Calvin Harvell, age 90, of China Grove, entered into the gates of Heaven on Thursday, April 9, 2020.
A private graveside service will be held for the family at West Lawn Cemetery in China Grove. A public service to celebrate his life will be held at a later date.Mr. Harvell will lie in state on Monday, April 14 from 12 to 4 pm at the funeral home. Family and friends are welcome to come by and pay their respects, keeping in mind that only 10 people are allowed in the building at a time.
Mr. Harvell was born January 23, 1930 in Stanly County, a son of the late Roy Calvin Harvell and Cora Kiser Harvell. He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Phyllis Furr Harvell; a son Roscoe Harvell, Jr.; an infant grandson, Billy Sehorn, Jr.; sisters, Raymell Christenbury and Lena Kiker; brother, Carl Harvell, and nephew, Lemuel Harvell.
Roscoe retired from Cannon Mills, Plant #1. After retirement, he built a nice shop out back, and became an excellent shade tree mechanic. The shop was supplied with all kinds of woodworking tools, so he and his daughter could share some quality time doing woodworking. He was a long time member of Victory Baptist Church and was an avid fan of Gary’s Barbeque hotdogs, and red slaw.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Brooke, Rebecca, and Megan from Hospice of Cabarrus County for their special care and love shown to Mr. Roscoe and his family during this time.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Elizabeth Sehorn and husband, Billy of Concord; brother, Sam Hopkins, Jr. and wife, Mary of Midland; numerous nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Victory Baptist Church, 111 Ross Street, China Grove, NC 28023.
