Obituary for Shelby Jean Rowland (Agee)
Shelby Jean Agee Rowland, age 84, of Concord, passed away on Saturday, September,12, 2020 in Cabarrus County.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, September 15 at Wilkinson Funeral Home from 1 to 2 pm with the funeral service to be held at 2 pm in the chapel, with Pastor Terry Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Carolina Memorial Park.
A native of Martinsville, VA, Shelby was the daughter of the late Obie Dyer Agree and Virginia Franklin Agee. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Archie Ray Rowland, and siblings, Melvin Agee, Earline Williams, Johnny Agee, Barbara Hollie, and Virginia Burleson.
“Shelby” to some, “Jean” to others, and occasionally “Shelby Jean”, she is remembered for her sense of humor, spontaneity, and beautiful snow-white hair. She retired from Cannon Mills where she worked in the weave room.
She is survived by her three children, Jerry Henry of Concord, Fruta Hopkins and husband, Lloyd of Mt. Pleasant and Rae Hall and husband, Russ of China Grove; a beloved nephew, Perry Sheppard of Winston Salem. She is also survived by four grandchildren, Chris Hopkins and Angel Hopkins of Concord, Tamisha Reece and husband, Chris of Rockwell, and Jenna Hall and husband, Reid Pegram of Raleigh. Ms. Rowland was also blessed with four great-grandchildren, Destanee Hopkins, Elijah Hopkins, Faith Best and Lorelai Hopkins.
Ms. Rowland’s family expresses their warmest thanks to Best of Care Assisted Living Facility for their excellent care and compassion, especially to Courtney.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Tucker Hospice House, 5003 Hospice Lane, Kannapolis, NC 28081.
