Shirley was a wonderful friend and colleague, and I have thought of her and the family often since I retired from Sedgefield in 1992. I relied on her to substitute for my English classes often; we shared many laughs and I have missed her. She also let me know when her sons had musicals; they were always great. I wish I remembered the name of the venue.
I'm sorry that I lost touch with her over the years. I remember when Hugh died, but I didn't know that Jeff had died, also.
You are in my heart as you grieve. Know that you are remembered and loved. Antonia (Toni) Moore

I worked with Shirley at Sedgefield Middle School for 8 years in the early 2000’s. She always had a smile on her face, a positive attitude, a genuine love for the teachers and students and endless energy, probably due to the miles she walked every day. She brightened our lives every day. She was a blessing to me and us all.

Shirley was one of the first and friendliest people I met in Charlotte. I will always remember her positive attitude and trips to “the bottom of the hill”. Bless you, Shirley, for love and memories.

Shirley was such a joy and I was very happy to share times with her at Park Road Baptist Church, whether preparing for monthly VSP luncheon or bible study in group. She was always beaming with a beautiful smile and attitude toward life!
