Obituary for Sylvia Jane McDonald (Hooks)
Mrs. Sylvia Jane Hooks McDonald, age 70 passed away Saturday, February 22, 2020 at Atrium Health Northeast.
The family will receive friends from 12 to 2 pm Thursday, February 27 at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A service will be held at 2 pm in the chapel with Rev. Steve Pennington officiating. Burial will follow at West Concord Cemetery.
Sylvia was born May 18, 1949 in Cabarrus County, a daughter of the late Lee Roy Hooks and Maggie Lee Hinson Hooks. Sylvia was happily married to Leonard McDonald for 54 beautiful years. She retired from Concord Telephone Company as an operator, and she last worked at the Concord Hotel as a desk clerk. Sylvia enjoyed such hobbies as reading, baking, working puzzles and sewing. She also loved spending time with her family. She was a loving and selfless woman who cared deeply for her family. Sylvia will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Left to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Leonard McDonald; daughters, Dianne Cush and husband, Dennis of Concord, and Stephanie Tucker and husband, Michael of Kannapolis; grandchildren, Andrea Poteate, Jeremy Kissiah, Edgar Kissiah, Heather Marcinko, Chris Kissiah and Arianna Tucker; great-grandchildren, Sarah Poteate, Adam Kissiah, Alexis Kissiah, Lilly Martin, Madisyn Marcinko, Alaina Marcinko, Hailey Kissiah; sister, Nancy Lefler of Concord; brother, Joe Hooks and wife, Linda of Rockwell; and a host of other loving relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by their son, Brian Keith McDonald.
