Obituary

Mr. William Mack Starnes, Jr. age 74 of Concord, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 8, 2021.

Mr. Starnes will lie in state Thursday, May 13 from 10am to 4pm at Wilkinson Funeral Home. A graveside service with military honors will be held Friday, May 14 at 11am at West Concord Cemetery.

William was born July 18, 1946 in Cabarrus county, a son of the late William Mack Starnes, Sr. and Pauline Whitaker Starnes. He proudly served and retired from the US Army after 21 years of service. He came back to Concord and found a career as service manager at Good Year Tire, where he worked also until his retirement. William enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.

Survivors include his wife, Renate Wildemann Starnes; his daughter, Sheila Starnes Lambeth of Lexington; his pride and joy, grandson, Nathan Lambeth and his girlfriend, Alissa Rosetta of Lexington, brother, Eddie Starnes and wife Ruby Ann of Hereford, Arizona, and some extended family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to National Fallen Firefighters Foundation P.O. Drawer 498, Emmitsburg, MD 21727, or Patriot Guard Riders NC, PO Box 36202, Fayetteville, NC 28303.
